In a ceremony today in conjunction with the Geothermal Conference for Latin America and the Caribbean, the representatives of the Iceland Geothermal Cluster, Vidar Helgason and Dr. Luis Alonso Gallardo, the Director of the Earth Science Division of Mexican CICESE signed a cooperation agreement.
“The agreement between the clusters marks the beginning of a fruitful cooperation between Mexican and Icelandic geothermal companies”, so Vidar Helgason.
The Mexican and Icelandic governments are currently discussing specific trade agreements, which include geothermal. So the agreement between the two clusters of the geothermal energy sectors in Iceland and Mexico comes timely. The cooperation is aimed at helping to promote geothermal energy as part of the future energy mix of both countries.
Bringing together research, business and other participants of the geothermal market as part of this cooperation will help to strengthen and improve the competitiveness of geothermal.
